Welcome to Straight Thru Photography, your family's photographer! I'm Christine, a Waterloo region based photographer who specializes in capturing family moments, freezing them in time through my camera. I offer photography services that go beyond capturing a single image, striving to create beautiful memories, while having fun and capturing the true essence of your children and growing family. I pride myself on the continuity of services that I offer, having worked with many families from their weddings and first pregnancies over 10 years ago, through third and fourth babies being welcomed into the world. I LOVE a great cup of coffee (caramel macchiato? I'm ALL in), snuggling up with a good book, spending time with my family at our trailer and supporting parents to feel the best they can in their new roles! I hope I can join your adventure and capture your beautifully growing and changing family too.
My Story
This is about me, as a photographer, and my passion for capturing and celebrating life's precious moments. From my early beginnings with my first SLR camera at the age of 13 to becoming a full-time professional photographer, this website offers a glimpse into my experiences, growth, and the beauty I strive to create through my work. I am a photographer who fell in love with the art of capturing moments at a young age. Travelling and taking photos became my way of expressing myself and exploring the world around me for most of my life. Alongside my photography journey, I pursued higher education, graduating from university with a B.A. and a B.S.W.
In 2007, a friend approached me when their wedding photographer disappeared, and they were left in a bind. Stepping up to the challenge, I embraced the opportunity and researched everything I could about posing and wedding photography. That first wedding turned into many more, including capturing the weddings of their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Each step of the way, I dedicated myself to learning and honing my skills to deliver beautiful results.
As my photography career progressed on a part time level, I delved into different realms of the craft. From maternity and newborn photography to capturing individuals in their unique essence, I pushed myself to study and master each new facet. I look at each photo session as an opportunity for me to grow artistically and connect with the people I have the privilege of photographing.
In 2011, I welcomed my first daughter into the world (I am now a mom of 3!). Balancing the demands of a high-stress career in social work with the desire to be present for my growing family became increasingly challenging. After my maternity leave, I spent a year struggling with this decision, I made the leap and decided to pursue photography full time. Leaving behind my social work career in 2014, I embraced my passion wholeheartedly, and I haven't looked back since.
Photography has always been more than just a profession for me; it is a way to celebrate individuals and capture their unique stories, a way to connect with families and tell their story. Each session is an opportunity for me to showcase the beauty, emotions, and connections that make every person special. Whether it's a wedding, a maternity shoot, a newborn session, or a family photography session, my goal is to create timeless images that evoke joy, love, and cherished memories.
